ABC Music Pick Up Over 20 Golden Guitar Nominations

ABC Music nominees for 2017 Country Music Awards of Australia

The Country Music Association of Australia (CMAA) and the Tamworth Regional Council yesterday announced the finalists for the 2017 Country Music Awards of Australia – The Toyota Golden Guitar Awards, which showed off nicely what a great year it’s been for ABC Music/ UMA.

“We are very pleased to see so many of or fantastic artists acknowledged in the Golden Guitar awards, it’s a credit to them and their hard working teams around them. What a great result for ABC Music! We wish all the artists all the best for the upcoming awards “- Natalie Waller, General Manager of ABC Music & Events.

Leading the charge with a total of six nominations was Travis Collins. The release of ‘Hard Light’ in 2016 shows that since winning Star Maker in 2004, Travis has grown and become an outstanding member of the country music scene with a lot to offer.

Fresh from her ARIA win last week for Best Country Album, Sara Storer continued her year of success with work from her album ‘Silos’ generating a whopping five nominations. Sara also took time on the stage at the event to perform the first single ‘Purple Cockies’ from the successful album with great industry response.

Legend of the league Graeme Connors proved that after 40 years in the industry, he’s still got it. His special release of ‘60 Summers’ earlier this year, which saw him also celebrate his 60th birthday achieved a well-deserved 3 nominations.

ABC Music was also ecstatic to see Country legend Warren H Williams nominated for Best Group or Duo with new to the scene Dani Young. Also taking a nomination for Best Group or Duo was the Sunny Cowgirls, and off the back of their ARIA nomination, The Wolfe Brothers.

Rounding out the domination of ABC, young and fresh faced Caitlyn Shadbolt picked up a nomination for Best New Talent, and after a five year hiatus; The Wilson Pickers album ‘You Can’t Catch Fish from a Train’ saw them nominated for Alternative Country Album of the Year.

ABC Music are excited to see the well-known faces as well as the new ones up for nominations, and look forward to what should be a great festival early 2017.
