ABC Cricket magazine out now!

ABC Cricket magazine, edited by ABC Grandstand’s Jim Maxwell, is on sale now.

This year’s edition of ABC Cricket magazine (RRP $8.95), edited by Jim Maxwell and produced by Hardie Grant Media, hits ABC Shops and newsagents today, packed with exclusive cricketing insights.Once again, Jim Maxwell, who has been in the editor’s hot seat since 1988, has gathered top cricketing writers, who set the scene for the exciting summer of cricket ahead.

This year, ABC Cricket features more than 40 pages of statistics, covering all forms of the game, along with schedules to see every cricket fan through the season, and engaging player profiles on big names and rising stars from Australia, New Zealand, West Indies and India. Geoff Lemon shines a light on Steve Smith’s ascendancy to captain and record-making batsman. While Smith’s star is shining brightly, he faces stiff captaincy competition from New Zealand captain Brendon McCullum. Iain O’Brien looks at his and the current Kiwi approach to cricket, while Greg Chappell shares his side of the infamous 1981 underarm incident against New Zealand. Another young team that will be in action this summer is the West Indies. Following a tumultuous decade, the Windies are reforming under youthful captain Jason Holder.

Tony Cozier asks if they will be able to show some of their cricketing forefathers’ genius. Plus, women’s cricket is growing in popularity worldwide – Adam Collins writes that this is the summer for Australian fans to embrace the format, while Laura Jolly highlights some of the biggest stars in action for the new Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL).

While Australia is a cricket-mad nation, Jarrod Kimber asks how Australian cricketing culture is impacting the global game, and, controversially, whether cricket is losing something special as a result. Plus, ABC Cricket has great prizes up for grabs, including the chance to win an exclusive trip to Melbourne to join the ABC Grandstand team in the commentary box at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).

ABC Cricket is on sale 29 October 2015 at ABC Shops, ABC Centres, good newsagents and online from
