ABC Commercial announces new SVOD rights deal with global kids streaming app PlayKids

A new range of ABC KIDS content will become available to local users of global preschool kid’s service, PlayKids, this August.

ABC Commercial today announced a new range of ABC KIDS content will become available to Australian and New Zealand users of global preschool kid's service, PlayKids, from Thursday, 4th August 2016.

A newly signed SVOD rights agreement between the parties will see select seasons of iconic ABC KIDS series Thomas & Friends, Sesame Street, Mister Maker and Fireman Sam hit the subscription video streaming service next month, in addition to select episodes from Octonauts and the first season of The Wiggles' Ready Steady Wiggle television series.

Other recognisable ABC KIDS series launching on the PlayKids app as part of the new agreement include Joe & Jack, Q Pootle 5, Toby's Travelling Circus, Peg + Cat, Cloudbabies, Mike The Knight and Dinosaur Train.

Ranked the #1 kid's app in over 25 different countries around the world, PlayKids features both educational games and cartoons aimed at children under five-years-old, boasting over 2,000 episodes of ad-free kid's content. Since its initial launch in Brazil in 2013, the app has been downloaded by over 17 million families across 102 countries globally.

The PlayKids app launched locally in Australia and New Zealand in 2014 and is currently available to download through Google Play and the iTunes App Store.
