ABC and Slava Grigoryan dominate 2017 ARIA Fine Arts Nominations

ABC Music’s labels have received 14 nominations across the Classical, Soundtrack, World, Jazz, Comedy and Engineer categories at the 2017 ARIAs. ABC Classics makes a clean sweep with all five nominations for Best Classical Album.

Guitarist Slava Grigoryan is the most nominated artist across all labels, with four albums in three categories. James Morrison receives two nominations for Best Jazz, whilst Kate Miller-Heidke’s live album with the Sydney Symphony is nominated for Best Classical and Best Engineer. Other nominees include pianists Jayson Gillham and Tamara-Anna Cislowska, the Melbourne Ska Orchestra and Australian String Quartet, and, in Best Comedy, Buddy Goode and the late John Clarke. The original soundtracks for Ali’s Wedding (Nigel Westlake, Sydney Symphony Orchestra) and Mountain (Australian Chamber Orchestra, Richard Tognetti) are also nominated.

The winners will be announced at a ceremony at the Art Gallery of NSW on Tuesday 10 October.
