Damien Parer was Australia’s first Academy Award winner. Through his film Kokoda Frontline he brought the war in New Guinea home to the Australian public. However whilst Parer was a man in control on the battle field, he struggled to settle into civilian life and to commit to the one woman who can bring him happiness.
