Message Stick - Tombstone Opening

People deal with grief in different ways and in Torres Strait Island culture, a tombstone opening and unveiling symbolises the point where sorrow meets happiness. In this program, reporter Nancia Guivarra takes us to her grandfather's tombstone opening in Cairns to join her family's ceremony and the celebrations that mark the end of their mourning period.
Special guest is Warren H. Williams, an Arrente man who became a household name when "Raining on the Rock" his duet with John Williamson, climbed the country music charts. Warren grew up near Alice Springs at the Mermannsberg mission. Message Stick caught up with him to talk about his early years and his rise to fame.
