Compass - My Brother, Balibo and Me
A couple of years ago former hard rocker Paul Stewart was dying of liver failure in a Melbourne hospital. His life of excess had finally caught up with him. One night, which he thought might be his last, a nun appeared at his bedside. She promised to get all her fellow religious sisters in East Timor to pray for him. The next morning Paul heard that he would receive a new liver. This profile of Paul Stewart's life explores his close connections with East Timor, from his brother Tony's death in 1975 as one of the 'Balibo Five' to his work with "The Dili All-Stars", a band he formed to help highlight the plight of the East Timorese people.
