Compass - Mistery of Hip Hop, The

A cultural movement which flourished in the ghettos of New York also found its own, unique voice here in Australia. It’s almost twenty years since hip hop – with its groundbreaking rap music, break dancing and graffiti art landed down under. In tonight’s story we follow the lives of a small and influential group of rappers in Sydney’s inner-west who’ve created their own hip hop scene and identity. It’s a way of expressing their ethical, moral and spiritual values. Indeed some are committed Christians. While they don’t proselytise their faith, they don’t separate it from their art either.
For major Australian hip hop artist 'Mistery' aka: Mathew Peet it's been central to his life for twenty years. So what is the value and appeal of his way of life?
