Compass - Grand Plans
In Australia today around 31 000 children are being raised by their grandparents. Increasingly grandparents are being thrust into the primary carer role because of substance abuse, mental illness, domestic violence or neglect on the part of the parent.
For most grandparents it's a job they never expected and even with the best intentions it can be a tough call for everyone involved. By following three very different 'grandparent families' this story focuses on stories of love and devotion, heartache and hardship, all part and parcel of becoming a parent again when you're old.
