Compass - Ageing Special

This 3-part Compass series looks at ageing, focussing on the elderly at work, in the home and with family.

Work, Later On
As we reach retirement age, more and more of us want to ensure this period of our lives is fulfilling and rewarding. Good health and strong personal relationships are important. But new research suggests one of the most important contributors to successful ageing may be the extent to which we stay involved and active in our communities.

Family, Later On
Regardless of their ethnic background, many baby boomers born and raised in Australia are finding they simply cannot care for their elders in the traditional way. In this episode, Compass looks at how the Greek Orthodox community in Sydney is dealing with the realities of caring for their elderly.

Home, Later On
Home and community are vitally important, and often become more so as we get older. In northern Europe, housing models for seniors have been designed to allow them to maintain connection with their communities, and to stay in their own homes for longer. Australia has been slow to adopt models like these, but there are some alternatives out there which appeal to older people. Compass looks at different ways of living including sharing with others, as we get older.
