Australian Story - Till Death Us Do Part (Catherine Smith)
In May 2008 hardened court officials were moved to tears by one of the most unusual cases ever to come to trial. It was the culmination of events that had unfolded over a period of thirty years.
For three decades, Catherine Smith cared for her six children and put up with sadistic domestic violence that has been described as one of the most extreme examples ever witnessed in Australia.
But in June 2006, she reached her breaking point. Catherine Smith stood opposite her husband, holding a loaded gun, convinced her choice was to kill or be killed.
