Abortion - The Choice
Every year, 46 million women worldwide choose to have a termination. It's a decision they will live with for the rest of their lives. Emotional, upsetting and divisive, abortion remains one of the most hotly debated issues of our time. For some it's a liberator - an essential human right. For others, it's murder. This thought-provoking film, commissioned for the BBC, approaches abortion from a fresh angle. Rather than getting embroiled in the pro-life debate, it focuses instead on the experiences of women who have come to the reluctant decision to have a termination. Margaret, 24, recently separated from her partner and already has two small children. Unable to cope with another baby, she feels that abortion is her only real option. We follow her through the process and hear from four other women who also chose not to have their babies. Challenging and provocative, this is an uncompromising, honest look at modern abortion.
