British India (1925-30)
Filmed by Brigadier K.C.D Dawson when he was Controller of the Household of the Indian Army Commander-in-Chief Sir William Birdwood between 1925 and 1930, the collection consists of over 9 hours of black & white footage shot mostly in India but also in Burma and Australia.
The collection includes footage of military parades, hunting trips, polo matches and visits to villages in India and Burma. There are great shots of industry in India in the late 1920s, including bi planes at Dubai airport and a tour of a hydro electric dam. The footage gives a rare insight in to the life of chief British Army personnel during the British Raj.
