Theo and Johnny
Theo and Johnny
THE IRREVERANT, SMASH HIT COMEDY GUARANTEED TO MAKE YOU SQUIRM AND LAUGH
Created by and starring comedy-duo brothers Theodore and Nathan Saidden, the riotous half-hour Theo and Johnny follows the often misunderstood, highly dysfunctional family with ethnic heritage tackling life in white-dominated Australian suburbia - often head on.
In Season 1, the fast food and girls-obsessed teen Theo (Theodore) is enrolled in a prestigious private school. Theo’s misadventures with best friend Johnny (Nathan) often cause his emotionally primitive, highly-strung father extreme stress as he battles to keep his delusional but fiercely loyal wife happy.
Theodore and Nathan were chosen to be part of the Google/Screen Australia’s Skip Ahead initiative which gives YouTube creators the opportunity to branch into long form video. Through this initiative, the first full length episode of Theo and Johnny immediately shot to the #1 trending spot on YouTube (Australia). It hit a staggering 1 million views in a little over three days, drawing audiences from all over the globe.
The most watched scripted TV half-hour comedy in Australia the year of release, amassing over 3 million views to date, Theo and Johnny continues to forge new ground and expand its loyal fanbase. Off the back of the smash hit #1 trending first season, the follow up season commissioned by the ABC didn’t disappoint.
In Season 2, best friends Theo and Johnny are newly minted adults who still fight with their parents and watch too much TV. This new series dives into Theo and his Dad’s misadventures as they chase their passions, test their friendships, fight with relatives and butt heads with authorities.
And while Theo’s parents deal with a marital breakdown, he and Johnny learn to deal with adulthood and independent life - taking their driving tests, romancing cheerleaders and trying to stay one step ahead of the law.
A heart-warming dive into the nation’s culturally diverse families, their trials and tribulations, Theo and Johnny is not to be missed.
