Cup of Dreams

About

In 2011 New Zealand’s Rugby team, The All Blacks, won the Rugby World Cup after defeating France in the nail-biting final. Cup of Dreams is an emotionally charged journey through the heart of New Zealand to explore why, prior to their 2011 victory, the All Blacks hadn’t won a World Cup since 1987.

As the nation prepared to host the biggest global sporting event of 2011, the Rugby World Cup, the weight of expectation from the people of New Zealand fell heavily on the players’ shoulders.

From a Sports marketing guru to a Prime Minister, from an international coach to an aspiring high school athlete, from the most famous Rugby player in the world to a working-class fan, all are endeavouring to understand the immensity of a cultural phenomenon that sometimes eclipses all other aspects of life in New Zealand.
