Catalyst - Human Sub

About

Sébastien Murat, known as 'The Human Sub' attempts to break the world record for extreme human breath-holding diving, made famous by the feature film The Big Blue.

He has trained himself to hold his breath for over eight minutes and can swim four laps of an Olympic swimming pool underwater on a single breath. For the challenge Sébastien has developed a unique strategy that he believes will circumvent the medical dangers.

He will mimic deep diving marine mammals by emptying his lungs of air before descending to the extreme depths. His biggest obstacles are the life-threatening conditions that have defeated many other breath-holding divers such as shallow-water blackout and decompression illness.
