ABC Commercial is proud to partner with parent organisation, the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC), to participate in C21’s inaugural CONTENT AUSTRALIA virtual conference. Launching {DATE}, ABC Commercial joins in bringing an international sales perspective to the conference.

C21’s CONTENT AUSTRALIA showcases a virtual ‘box set’ of conference sessions, examining the television production, broadcast, streaming and distribution sectors in Australia, and speaking with elite Australian and international executives. These sessions take a detailed look at Australia’s role in the global business, including the boom in international production, global coproduction opportunities, evolving First Nations drama, innovative short-form content, and insight on international trends.

As part of CONTENT AUSTRALIA, ABC Commercial’s Formats Showcase conference session delves into both recent and long-running successes, highlighting the International audience appetite for warm and positive programming as well as the search for proven successful formats. ABC Commercial’s Katherine McMillan joined Managing Director of Interstellar, David Williams and EP and Content Manager at KAN Israel, Tali Katz to share their joint, in-depth knowledge on what’s hot right now in format content. The panel discussed their experiences with award-winning established formats and brand new offerings, drilling down into audience strategy and how their versions are delivering on this to broadcasters.

The opening event State of the Australian Nation features the ABC’s Director of Entertainment Michael Carrington, discussing with other industry leaders the impact of the changes in tax incentives, the boom in offshore-financed or -generated production and growing collaboration between local content creators and international producers, platforms and broadcasters. Sally Riley Head of Drama, Entertainment & Indigenous at the ABC leads a team of Australian drama commissioners in discussing their increasing reliance on co-financing with international platforms, producers and sales agents, their commitments to greater diversity on- and off-screen and their content strategies and what they are looking for from both the domestic and international markets.
