ABC Music is thrilled that two of their artists won at last night’s ARIA Awards.

The Wiggles won Best Children’s Release for the 14th time with their album Wiggle Town!. This award takes their total number of ARIA wins to 15. They received an Outstanding Achievement Award in 2003 and were inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame in 2011.

The Wiggles ability to combine music, dance, imagination and a sense of fun into their releases has positioned them as the most awarded children’s artist in one category.

Sara Storer won the Best Country Album with her release Silos. Sara is a much-loved artist and has won 19 Golden Guitar awards for her work. Despite numerous nominations, Silos is Sara’s first Aria win.

ABC Music artists received eight nominations across three categories in last night’s awards. ABC Music artists were also successful at last month’s Artisan Awards, with four wins in Best Jazz, Best World, Best Comedy and Best Original Soundtrack/Cast/Show.

This brings the total number of ARIA wins for ABC Music to 104 since the awards began in 1987.

“I’m incredibly proud of all our artists who were nominated for this year’s awards and it was a great feeling to see our artists’ hard work recognised. A big congratulations go to all our winners, The Wiggles, Sara Storer, Melbourne Ska Orchestra, Josh Pyke and the SSO, Vince Jones and Paul Grabowsky and Roy and HG.”

Natalie Waller, General Manager ABC Music and Events.

“As Australia’s longest-running independent label, ABC Music has worked with some of our country’s most talented music artists, and seeing such a large number of our artists as nominees and winners in this year’s Awards, reinforces that.”

Robert Patterson, Director ABC Commercial.
