ABC KIDS series Bing and ABC3’s Nowhere Boys score International Emmys

Celebrated ABC3 series Nowhere Boys has been honoured overnight with an International Emmy Award at the MIPTV festival in Cannes, France, taking home the award for best ‘Kids Series’.

Acclaimed ABC KIDS series Bing was also recognised at the 4th annual event, winning in the ‘Kids: Pre-School’ category.

The two ABC television series joined winners from Japan, Norway, the Netherlands and the UK at the prominent industry awards, which recognise and showcase the world’s best children’s television.

The win sees Nowhere Boys producers Matchbox Pictures bolster their growing collection of honours for their work on the series, including two Logie Award wins in 2014-15 for ‘Most Outstanding Children’s Program’ and the 2014-15 Screen Producers Australia Award for ‘Best Children’s Television Production’.

Earlier this year, the series was also recognised as the ‘Best Non-Animated or Mixed Series’ in the Tweens/Teens category at Kidscreen in Miami, and awarded the Banff World Media Festival Rockie Award for Youth Fiction.

Independent studio Acamar Films has also received high praise from around the globe for their children’s television series Bing, having previously won a British Writer’s Guild Award in 2015, in addition to a BAFTA nomination for ‘Best Pre-School Series’.

“This is an amazing result for two outstanding children’s programs,” said Jessica Ellis, Head of ABC Video Entertainment & Distribution. “ABC Commercial is proud to be distributing these fantastic kid’s series to the local home entertainment market in Australia & New Zealand and we congratulate the series producers on this incredible accomplishment.”
