ABC COMMERCIAL TO DISTRIBUTE DAVID THOMPSON’S THAI STREET FOOD SERIES

David Thompson new seriesABC Commercial has acquired worldwide distribution rights to a brand new series featuring guru, chef and Thai food adventurer, David Thompson.

Over 13 Episodes - and more than 50 recipes – THAI STREET FOOD (13 x 30’ HD) will offer a glimpse into the vibrant world of Thailand’s streets and markets, following the sweep of time as day slips into night, and the people and food change accordingly. David’s quest to unlock the secrets of street food will take him from the back roads of Bangkok, to the coast, riverside communities, houses overhanging the canals, wherever food is prepared and sold. The series will be produced by award-winning producer W Lance Reynolds.

Thompson is well-known internationally for his cookbooks Thai Food and Thai Street Food and his London-based Thai restaurant, Nahm earned a Michelin star within six months of opening in 2001. Most recently, on 30 April, his Bangkok-based restaurant, also called Nahm, was named as one of the world’s 50 best restaurants 2012.

Organised by Restaurant magazine, The World’s 50 Best Restaurants list is an annual snapshot of the opinions and experiences of over 800 international restaurant industry experts.

From the markets at dawn to a very late supper in Chinatown, David will talk and cook with vendors, hawkers and market stall holders to discover the most popular dishes, the classics and the less well-known delicacies. He will watch the people, listen to the history, absorb the culture and taste absolutely everything.
