2017 ARIA Award Winners

2017 ARIA Award Winners

The 2017 ARIA Awards were held at The Star Event Centre in Sydney last night, with ABC Music Labels celebrating two triumphs for the evening, bringing their total up to six ARIA awards won this year. The night saw All Our Exes Live In Texas win Best Blues & Roots Album with their successful debut album When We Fall and Jimmy Barnes taking away the award for Best Children’s Album with Och Aye the G’Nu

The Australian all-female folk foursome All Our Exes Live In Texas received critical acclaim when they released their full-length album When We Fall back in March of this year. The album is a collection of songs rich with sweet, potent harmonies and lamentations of twisted love tales, heartbreak and bad tattoos, told by four witty and outspoken feminists.

Australian rock legend, Jimmy Barnes, ventured into the world of children’s entertainment with Och Aye the G’Nu. Also released in March this year, the album features the world’s most popular children’s group, The Wiggles, and consists of truly unique poems that were inspired by Jimmy’s grandchildren – creating an album to excite and entertain young audiences all over the world.

“We are proud to be working with such amazing talent.  These ARIA wins are a credit to the hard work and dedication from All Our Exes Live in Texas and also from Jimmy Barnes and The Wiggles team.  A huge congratulation to the winners,” Natalie Waller, General Manager (ABC Music).

ABC labels received nineteen ARIA nominations across nine categories this year, with ABC Classics & Jazz previously announced at the Fine Arts Awards as winners of Best Classical (Slave Grigoryan), Best Jazz (James Morrison), Best Original Soundtrack (Nigel Westlake) and Best Comedy (John Clarke) albums.
