Vital Systems

Vital Systems is a six part series, developed for Australian secondary school students, which looks at the major systems of the human body. These include the muscular, skeletal, nervous, endocrine, respiratory, digestive, urinary and immune systems.

Control Systems
This episode examines the nervous and endocrine body systems which regulate the body. It includes an interview with a young male diabetic who explains the role of the hormone insulin.

The Fuel System
This episode illustrates that the food we eat is the source of energy for the cells in our body.

Movement
This episode looks at how we move our bodies and the vital interplay between the muscular, skeletal and nervous systems.

Security Systems
This episode deals with the defence mechanisms of the human body, the immune system.

The Systems
This episode provides an overview of the major systems that sustain the human body and introduces the concept of homeostasis.

Transport Systems
This episode looks at the circulatory, respiratory and urinary systems of the human body.
