Nugget Coombs - Life Shared, A

Herbert Cole 'Nugget' Coombs has been described as one of the great Australians - a man who's work made a difference to the lives of everyone. Following a State funeral in Sydney, Nugget Coombs' ashes were laid to rest alongside Yolgnu warriors at Yirrakala in East Arnhem Land, in a traditional ceremony, the first of its kind for a white man. Coombs was honoured for his friendship with Yolgnu people and his contribution to the advancement of Indigenous rights for more than 40 years. The documentary Nugget Coombs - A Life Shared looks at the man and the legacy he left behind.
The documentary has been produced by the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Commission (ATSIC) as part of its public awareness campaign. Following the traditional ceremony it was decided to produce a documentary looking specifically at Coombs involvement with Indigenous people from an Indigenous perspective. This program looks at his influence and impact on events spanning 20 years.

This program is released for non theatrical use within educational, government and business organisations. Additional payments under a Screenrights licence are not required. Please contact us for Exhibition or Streaming Licences.
