Message Stick - Bush Bands Bash
Every year, Alice Springs in the Northern Territory comes alive to the sounds of desert reggae, rock and gospel music with the staging of the showcase Indigenous event - the Bush Bands Bash.
Ronan Sharkey, a reporter with the Triple J TV show, Hack, got to spend some time with one of the event's headline acts – the Tjupi Band – in their home community of Papunya.
In between rehearsals, work for the dole and sharing their stories about the Honey-Ant Dreaming, we find out just how talented these band members are and how the music they play weaves an intricate web that helps to keep their community positive and strong.
