Love Letters from a War

These are the love letters of John and Josie Johnson, a typical Australian family who with their eight children struggled to survive until John went to war to earn enough to feed them. His letters form the basis of this moving doco-drama. Composed of both archival and re-created drama, Love Letters From a War is told in John (Andrew Blackman) and Josies (Trudy Hellier) own words, as they come to terms with being apart and the uncertainty of war. Set against a backdrop of the Great Depression, the rise of Hitler, and World War Two, the one hour film is an inspirational narrative and an accurate reflection of Australian history, culture and the spirit of the time. Suitable for English and History Studies.
