For the Juniors - Safety

This is a unit of four programs on various aspects of personal safety. Each program emphasises the need for hazard identification skills and the use of observation and intelligence in the identification, avoidance and prevention of accidents. The programs avoid showing accidents but instead present situations which the audience can analyse for itself, with guidance from the program's presenter.
As Safe as Houses
This program opens with the proposition that houses are not necessarily as safe as they seem, taking a look at a child's bedroom, the bathroom and the kitchen. It looks at the question of accident prevention, and raises the issue of the safety of younger brothers and sisters.
Play it Safely
This program takes us out of the house and into the suburban backyard or garden. It looks at hazards that can exist in apparently harmless environments like the lawn, the vegetable garden and the garden shed. Again it emphasises the need for hazard identification skills.
Travel Safety
This program looks at road safety from the point of view of the child. It emphasises the constant need to use our senses and intelligence to identify and avoid hazardous situations.
Water Safe
This program takes us out of the house and into the suburban backyard or garden. It looks at hazards that can exist in apparently harmless environments like the lawn, the vegetable garden and the garden shed. Again it emphasises the need for hazard identification skills.
