Inventions from the Shed

This five part series takes us deep into the inner sanctum of the inventor, to that private place where they find their inspiration - and most of the working parts - for their next creation. Whether it's a revolutionary engine or a sideburn stencil, it all starts in the shed. Character based and narrative driven, this series takes all across Australia to meet these original thinkers.
In the Mad Max inspired landscape that is Coober Pedy, four unlikely housemates cohabit an underground dugout surrounded by half completed prototypes, hybrid machinery and abandoned vehicles. North to Queenslands' lush tropical sugar cane country, 92 year old Chero Barbi is famous for his machine creations. And, thanks to a dodgy partner, broke. In a suburban garage in Adelaide an entire family are solving the problems of the Streaky Bay oyster farmers. And back to Melbourne the dilemma of uneven rockabilly sideburns has been solved.
From the pure joy of seeing an idea come to life to the black humour of the fabulous failures, this journey into the driven and obsessive world of the back yard inventor is compelling television. Whether it's a revolutionary engine that will save the planet or a solution to the drama of uneven sideburns, it all starts...in the shed.
