Four Corners - Wasting Away
"When you're anorexic you think you're pretty cool 'cos you think you've got lots of self-control and willpower. And everyone else is weak. you think you're a cut above. because you're skinnier than everyone else." - Kylie
Tennille, Liz, Kylie and Holly are dedicated to the relentless pursuit of thinness. They are among the thousands of young Australians who suffer a complex, dangerous and widely misunderstood mental illness - anorexia nervosa.
In this special and emotionally powerful program, Four Corners follows these four young women in their tortuous battle for recovery. Progress comes in tiny increments - weight gains of just a hundred grams or so. Relapses are all too frequent.
In making this program producer-cameraman Paul Costello and reporter Morag Ramsay were given extraordinary access to an adolescent eating disorders unit at Sydney's Westmead Hospital and to a private clinic where sufferers are counselled.
This program is released for non theatrical use within educational, government and business organisations. Additional payments under a Screenrights licence are not required. Please contact us for Exhibition or Streaming Licences.
