Changing Minds: The Inside Story (Series 2)
In this follow up series to Changing Minds – The Inside Story, Dr Mark Cross takes us inside Birunji Unit in Campbelltown, where there are 20 beds for 17-26 year olds.
Around 75 per cent of all severe mental illness starts before the age of 24. By age 21, just over half of young people will have experienced a diagnosable psychiatric disorder. In another unit also at Campbelltown, we see how talk therapy, organic food and exercise are helping the ‘worried well’.
There is also more from the hospital featured in the first series, Liverpool Mental Unit, where we see for the first time acute patients placed in seclusion.
