Changing Minds: The Inside Story (Series 1)

For the first time in Australian television history, a documentary series shot inside one of the busiest Psychiatric Units in the country will uncover the realities of 21st century mental health treatment as we meet the patients and staff who are challenging, with humour and honesty, the stigma and taboos that exist around Mental Health. This three part documentary follows patients as they, with the help of the staff, work towards regaining their health. It’s raw, funny and sometimes uncomfortable. But the message is clear – help is available.

Ep 1 Tonight we go inside the locked wards of Liverpool Hospital’s Mental Health Unit and meet Patrick an IT specialist who was admitted after hitching a high speed ride on the bull bar of a truck.

Ep 2 Jeffrey was brought to Liverpool Hospital by police after an altercation with his neighbours. He thought he’d be there for a couple of hours. A month later and he’s fighting for his freedom – but is he well enough to be released?

Ep 3 It’s the final episode in Liverpool’s Mental Health Unit and we’re catching up with all the patients we’ve seen so far. Plus we meet Rebecca who believes a psychic not a psychiatrist is what she needs to get better.
