Artzone

Produced specifically for upper secondary schools by the ABC's Education Television unit, Artzone features a profile of 9 Australian artists and their work.

Episodes focus on the arts of music, visual arts, dance and physical theatre, drama and media. This exceptional series has been developed in close consultation with arts specialists around Australia and is designed to link directly with school curriculum in The Arts.

Volume 1
Ep 1 - Club Swing
Melbourne's internationally successful aerial artists, Club swing create their new show "Razor Baby" - a tribute to female super heroes like Xena ,Warrior Princess and Lara Croft, Tomb Raider.

Ep 2 - Albert David
Albert David, a dancer with the Bangarra Dance Theatre creates his first choreographic work for the company. Albert is a Torre Strait Islander and his piece represents the call of the Boo Shell which in the past echoed across the straits.

Ep 3 - Bille Brown
Actor Bille Brown played the lead in Neil Armfield's production of David Hare's play "The Judas Kiss", a drama about two critical moments in the last years of the life of Oscar Wilde. In this program we see how Bille creates the role of Oscar Wilde.

Ep 4 - Speed Street
Urbane Theatre Projects work with Sydney's diverse cultures and communities to make site specific theatre. UTP were asked to develop a work to help change perceptions about Speed Street, Liverpool, a highly vilified street. In this program we see how a team of theatre professionals go about creating, with the community, the performance, "Speed Street".

Volume 2
Ep 5 - Elena Kats-Chernin
Elena Kats-Chernin was commissioned by Musica Viva to write a piece for violin, horn and piano to commemorate 10 years since the fall of the Berlin Wall. This program shows Elena working towards the performance of the work "Velvet Revolution".

Ep 6 - Wendy Sharpe
Celebrated painter Wendy Sharpe was commissioned to create an 8-panel mural for a new aquatic centre. This program observes the skills and techniques employed by Wendy to create the mural.

Ep 7 - Mikala Dwyer
Milala Dwyer is an installation artist working with the everyday, displacing materials from our ordinary encounters with them. In this program we see her preparing for a solo exhibition.

Ep 8 - Justene Williams
Justene Williams works with cheap cameras spontaneously taking portraits of banal objects and suburban scenes.

Ep 9 - Triple J Breakfast
In this program we see how the creative team devise their format and get the first program of a new Triple J breakfast show with Adam Spencer. The film focuses on the producer, Jo Chichester, a woman in her late twenties who has been obsessed with radio since she was a teenager.
